A fantastic site by a passionate collector who loves the game of chess. I was privileged to meet him in Gibraltar last week.

Dear Mr. Lanier:
Many thanks for your new chess collecting website. I collect staunton style chess sets but found your non-staunton sets quite enjoyable also. But I was wondering why the absence of Jaques sets in your staunton section?

Dear Mr Lanier,

Just a little snippet of information. The wood you labeled as "pepperwood"in your Cayenne set is known in woodturners circles all over the world as "Palmyra". There are two variations; Red Palmyra and Black Palmyra. Yours look as Black Palmyra.
Greetings,

Jan Hovens

Very nice site! A pleasure to peruse!
I couldn't find contact information -- I'm wondering where you are located. Are you connected with the Chess Museum in Florida? Anyway, if you're at the CCI meeting in May (2009), I'll see you there!

One more thing -- Great Links page! I could spend a few months just clicking around on those sites. Thanks for pulling them together. I'm especially interested in what informed people are thinking about the origins of chess -- the theories and evidence that has accumulated since Murray. I've got a lot of reading to do. Thanks for pointing the way.

Beautiful website. I especially
liked the section that talks about
the various chess clocks from
different eras. Please keep up the
good work.

Very nice indeed!

Dear Mr. Lanier,
Thank you for creating this wonderfully entertaining and informative web-site. If it is possible for you to forward a special message of appreciation to the "tax consultant" (from whose catalogue I have just returned), may I request that you do so for me. As a person interested in the Staunton design and Jaques' rivals, could you inform me, how has it been documented that F H Ayers manufactured the sets which have been attributed to him (or the firm bearing his name).
Thank you again for your efforts in creating and updating this site.
Very truly yours,
Robert E. Stoller, Anchorage, Alaska
