Mayan Rocks
Massive rock gargoyles, fairly typical mexican souvenir. The pieces are roughly carved, probably with machine aid, in light coloured translucent stone, probably alabaster, the green side looks like malachite, but is probably coloured alabaster as well. Every piece is different, the white king stands 134 mm, the green king 132 mm! Pieces are well finished, and seemingly coated in poliester resine. Impressive set to exhibit in a closed vitrine...
Tuscan Abstracts
Abstract chessmen in alabastre in red and neutral, with a bottom alpaka ring for weight, felted, from the 60ies to 70ies. The Kings stand 80 mm . Tuscany is renowned for its handicraft industry dating back to the Estruscans, mainly around Volterra, where the alabastre deposits are situated.
