FIDET and Czech Standard

As playing sets, two types stand out in recent Czech practice - a variation  of Austrian style - mainly BY FIDET company - and national Czech style -  still made in a simplified form nowadays.

Early Austrian-style FIDET set

Early 20th C set with a difference - kings stand 84 mm.

Royal Czech

Picture
Huge set in czech national style - king at 113 mm with a 40 mm wide base! - hailing sensibly from before WW 1 - but czechslovaquian colectors will know better .  This was and is a playing set, with great stability, and the faded varnish shows it has been intensely used over time. As usual in sets of this period and region - thin paper pads under the pieces.

Czech Tournament

Czech playing set from the 30ies - all filials are separate pieces glued into cavities! Kings stand 89 mm - the white knights are replacements. Similar sets in simpler form without separate finials are still made today....
