Who was the patentee of the Status Quo Travel Board ?

Curators note: this is the first ever publication of a text by an outside writer in the Chess Museum - but hopefully not the last. In fact, we welcome any kind of original text, article, essay or investigation related to chess history or historic chess materials - the Museum actually has about 1000 visits per day.....
Marc Loost, CCI member, is well known to chess collectors and historians alike - principally for his revelation of the family and business details of John Jaques and Nathaniel Cooke at the 2010 Cambridge World CCI meeting - which raised quite some eyebrows at the time among Jaques specialists. This article has been published before in the CCI Magazine, and is also accessible via the CCI Magazine website - for CCI members.
The author and the Museum welcome pertinent and sensible comments, which will also be published with name and refererences.
