Every now and then a chess set or a question crops up we here cannot answer. Staff is underpaid and overworked, and - the Museum hath its limits. If You, dear visitor, can come up with an answer or a solution, so much the better. Mysterious Catalin / Bakelite pieces
William Coady in the USA of A owns this catalin chess set - has anybody ever seen this or has some clue as to the manufacturer and the period? If so, please write to the Chess Museum under [email protected]
Catalin modern chess pieces
Joe Hauck from the US sent us these photos with the request to identify maker, origin and time of production. They are made n bakelite or catalin plastic each pieces consists of two to three sections lined up on a central metal screws. One side is in "butterscotch" plastic, the other in black, as the photos show, quite substantial chessmen. Anybody have a clue to this mystery ? - then please let us know.....
Modern mystery
Anne-Cathrin Köhler from Hamburg sent in these nice shots of a well finished modern chess set in wood. Bishops and knights might be interchangedin the shot, but it is well recognizeable. Anybody knows these chess men?

Kevin from Cape May sent these nice pics with a question - hae You seen these before. According to Kevin they were sold to him as dating fgrom 1900, material is either lead or steel (which?) and Kevin is reminded of Reynard sets.
